Swab the World is dedicated to increasing the diversity within the global stem cell registry, as 70% of the current registry is comprised of Caucasian individuals. This means that leukemia patients who belong to minority populations have a much harder time matching with a viable stem cell donor. As a UTSC Chapter for Swab the World, we are dedicated to increasing the diversity within the current registry by holding swab drives that inform ethnically diverse individuals about this discrepancy and encourages them to join the registry.
