Welcome to C.R.E.A.T.E. (Collaborative Realm for Entrepreneurship, Academia, and Technology Exchange)! 🚀
C.R.E.A.T.E. (Collaborative Realm for Entrepreneurship, Academia, and Technology Exchange) is a student-run community in the Computer, Mathematical, and Statistical Sciences department at UTSC. We connect students with real software and non-software projects. Everything from a peer’s startup idea to enterprise-level tools for non-profit organizations. By joining a project team, you’ll learn by doing: brainstorming features, creating designs, writing or reviewing code, testing, and ultimately delivering a working solution that someone really needs.
Alongside project work, we offer regular workshops and course-review sessions so you can pick up new skills as you go: maybe you’re learning a JavaScript framework, brushing up on UX principles, or diving into statistics for a data-driven feature. At any point during the semester, we run friendly challenges and mini-competitions, sometimes a design sprint, sometimes a debugging contest, or a quick pitch session, to help you identify where you shine and where you could use more practice.
You don’t have to be a coder to make an impact. Some teammates focus on graphic design or user-experience mockups, others bring expertise in life sciences, business strategy, data analysis, or copywriting. Whatever your background, there’s a role for you: if you care about building something real, C.R.E.A.T.E. will give you the support, structure, and community you need to grow your skills, build your portfolio, and make meaningful connections across disciplines. Join us, bring your curiosity, and let’s build something together.
