In 1900, a secret cabal of Irish and Dutch San Franciscans conspired to bomb a Royal Navy base in British Columbia. Their plans were thwarted by a mysterious informant codenamed “Agent X”. And what can this affair tell us about how Irish Americans perceived imperialism and Anglo-American rapprochement at the turn of the twentieth century?
