We all want to save the planet, after all at the rate we consume, exploit and destroy our homes, we might no longer have a future.
So we do whatever we can: conserve our energy, recycle, and stop consuming wasteful products like single-use plastic.
However, we should also consider how our “solutions” and eco policies affect people with disabilities. What we may think to be a great way to save the planet, can harm those who are disabled. People with disabilities experience the negative effects of climate change, so they definitely want to participate.
But it is difficult to do so when the only solutions on the table are “ableists.”
Join us for a discussion on Friday, October 21st from 1pm-2:30pm to learn how our environmental efforts affect people with disabilities, as well as solutions for better collaborations.
