SUMMARY:Undergraduate Journal of American Studies 2022/23 Call for Papers
DESCRIPTION:This year’s journal explores America’s long and complicated relationship with power. \nWe will be looking at: those in power and the systems that keep them in power\, how people and movements can exercise power “from below\, spaces that are defined by an abundance or absence of power\, and systems of disempowerment and dispossession. \nWritings can be from political\, historical\, economic\, literary\, or artistic perspectives\, as well any other relevant fields including\, but not limited to\, indigenous studies\, geography\, sociology\, and anthropology. When choosing your submission\, keep this question in mind: what does it mean to hold\, or not hold\, power in an American context? \nWe invite submissions that are 2-20 pages in length\, which have received a mark of 80% or higher. Work from all disciplines is welcome\, as long as the submission is related to the theme of ‘power’ and rooted in the American context. We will accept up to two submissions per person\, but no more than one entry per person will be published. When submitting\, please include your year and program(s) of study. \nStudents whose papers are accepted will work with the journal’s editing team to improve and polish their submission before publication. \nPlease send submissions and/or any questions to ujas.editors@gmail.com. \nTo view copies of past journals\, please visit: https://munkschool.utoronto.ca/american-studies/undergraduate-journal-american-studies \nDeadline: January 13\, 2023 at 11:59 PM
