Welcome to Because I am a Girl at UTM! We’re a student-led non-profit organization committed to advancing gender equality both locally and globally. Our mission is to foster and fortify the principles of gender equality across the world.

At Because I am a Girl, we believe in creating a world where every individual, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities and rights. Through engaging events, workshops, and advocacy campaigns, we work to challenge existing norms, uplift marginalized voices, and advocate for social justice.

A key part of our mission is supporting women facing difficult circumstances. Each year, we organize fundraising events and initiatives that directly aid women in need. This year, our focus has been on projects such as The Shoebox Project, which provides essential items and gifts for women experiencing homelessness, and Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives, raising funds for research and support programs. We continuously strive to identify and contribute to causes that uplift and empower women in challenging situations.
