Demographic Dialogue St George

Demographic decline is a significant global trend characterized by falling birth rates and aging populations in many countries. This phenomenon is important to pay attention to for several reasons:

Economic Impact – A shrinking workforce can lead to reduced economic productivity and increased pressure on social support systems. Let’s say it takes 1000 workers to maintain the current infrastructure, so then what happens if the available number of workers fall to 500? This increases the risk of infrastructure collapse.

Innovation Challenges – With fewer young people, there may be a decline in innovation and technological progress. If everyone is being dragged into maintaining infrastructure and fixing AC in future heatwaves, then there are less people to innovate green tech.

Healthcare Strain – An aging population puts increased pressure on healthcare systems and eldercare services. As people live longer they do not necessarily live younger, and often do not have the capacity to work in the same way that young people do.

For these reasons we seek to discuss the subject of falling birth rates, demographics, and promote awareness of pronatalism. Join us to prevent the demographic collapse together.
