Eye Health and Vision Student’s Association (EVSA) purpose is to educate students on the causes, treatments and prevention of eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good eye health. EVSA also aims to increase awareness of inequality in global eyecare, including topics reflecting the leading causes of vision impairment and blindness at a global level and cases of unmaintained myopia and hyperopia due to a lack of glasses, contact lens and public infrastructure. The club also aims to introduce them to various careers in the field of eye health, including ophthalmology, optometry, optician and orthoptics, presenting students with clear academic pathways; helpful and required courses, as well as UTSC courses approved by the post-graduate institutions, useful volunteer experience and universities/colleges that provide vision programs of interest. EVSA seeks to provide an organization for students to connect with like-minded peers who share an interest in vision care and eye health.
