Friends of MSF UTM is an affiliated student-run chapter of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) Canada. Our student-run chapter aims to engage students of all backgrounds by bringing awareness to the humanitarian efforts led by Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) to crisis areas across the world.
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is an international and independent medical humanitarian organization providing impartial aid, irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions to those affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or otherwise excluded from receiving healthcare.
Friends of MSF UTM aims to involve students from all backgrounds and facilities in assisting their missions across the globe, and provide a possible career path into working with MSF. Friends of MSF UTM main objectives are to (1) Increase awareness about Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and their global campaigns through workshops, petitions, informational posts and social media outreach, (2) Conduct fundraising activities to generate financial support for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) campaigns on an international scale through activities such as paint nights, and bake sales, contests, and charity tournaments, (3) Encourage and engage UTM students to actively support Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in medical humanitarian projects abroad. Additionally, promote awareness of both medical and non-medical humanitarian projects taking place internationally by hosting speaker nights with previous and current MSF staff.
