Imagining Otherwise: Dialogues on Psychotherapy’s Past, Present, and Future is an OISE student-led speaker series for students and community-based practitioners to gather and exchange ideas concerning critical practice in psychotherapy. Each year, the organizing committee invites speakers from various communities whose work is situated at the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, disability, class, and other social locations. The goal of the speaker series is to advance our understanding of psychotherapy with practicing professionals offering expertise in their fields. Participants are invited to reflect on how psychotherapy’s past informs its present need for change, imagine future possibilities for psychotherapy’s place within our society, and explore professional, personal, and ethical responsibilities as the next generation of psychotherapists in Canada and beyond.
