The Neurodiversity and Mental Health in Law and Policy Association (NMHLPA) is a student-led organization at the University of Toronto dedicated to supporting women pursuing careers in law who are navigating neurodiversity, mental health challenges, academic setbacks, and accessibility barriers. We recognize that traditional pre-law spaces often ignore the unique hurdles faced by students managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, and burnout. NMHLPA bridges this gap by creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering community where members are not defined solely by their grades or diagnoses.
By joining NMHLPA, members can expect:
-
- Academic Support: Access to our Academic Recovery and Success Program, as well as peer-led accountability structures.
- Community & Wellness: Decompress at our Weekly Study Halls, shared Community Dinners, and monthly Art Therapy/Creative Wellness events.
- Professional Growth: Attend signature events like our “Beyond the Transcript” panels, Celebrity Mock Trials, and the Women’s Legal Leaders Dinner to network with inclusive law firms, legal professionals, and upper-year mentors.
Our internal organizational structure includes dedicated executive oversight spanning Operations, Finance, Membership, and Mentorship to fully execute these initiatives.
