What programs should I choose? What career should I pick? What do I want to do with my life?
From an early age, there’s a pressure to decide on a life path, to “know what you’re going to do when you grow up.” But with so many options and not enough opportunity to explore them all, how can we know what path is the best fit for us? This is the dilemma that the Next Steps Network seeks to tackle.
Our mission is to support and guide you as you decide on your next steps in life. Through workshops, we’ll help you identify and cultivate your unique strengths and values. Then, explore different programs and careers that utilize those strengths and values through our program and career exploration panels. Speak directly to graduate students and people currently in the workforce about what they find challenging or rewarding about their program or career, what skills or strengths are most important, and how they decided on their career path. Are you wondering if medical school or law school is right for you? Worried about whether you’re suited for the 9-5 desk job life? Curious about pursuing research, or wanting to know how to find a research area that you’re passionate about? These are all questions we’ll tackle in our program and career panels.
Connect with other like-minded peers at our social events! Through swapping tips, sharing concerns, and reflecting on experiences, our hope is to form a supportive network of peers that you can turn to as you work towards your academic and career goals.
