United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund: University of Toronto Student Chapter (UNICEF) St George

U of T UNICEF, a university group directly affiliated with UNICEF Canada, strives to raise funds and promote awareness of issues such as child labour, poverty, gender inequality, illiteracy, HIV/AIDS, and living environment. We operate through our two programs to target both the university community and local youth.

1. University Outreach Program – To host fundraising and education events, to provide opportunities for service in the Toronto region, and to promote awareness of UNICEF as a global organization and its endeavors.

2. Youth Engagement Program – To build a global citizen persona in children at local community centres, and boys and girls clubs by teaching them a UNICEF-based curriculum. Children will be taught about important children’s rights issues worldwide such as those regarding education, health and gender equality.

We are looking for dedicated members to help make a difference on a local as well as international stage. In addition, volunteer hours will be recorded and certified at the end of the year. If you are interesting in getting involved, contact uoft.unicef@gmail.com for more details.
