The University of Toronto Algorithmic Trading Society (UTATS) is a student organization focused on quantitative finance and financial systems engineering.
UTATS brings together students interested in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and financial markets to explore how modern electronic trading systems operate. Through building actual trading bots in workshops, technical projects, research sessions, and trading competitions, members gain hands-on experience with topics such as market microstructure, market making, backtesting, quantitative research, and trading infrastructure.
The society emphasizes collaborative learning and engineering-focused experimentation, with members working on projects including simulated exchanges, market-making bots, quantitative research tools, and trading systems.
UTATS welcomes students from all backgrounds and experience levels who are interested in quantitative finance, software engineering, and modern financial technology. Join us in our mission to use algorithms to engineer Toronto’s modern financial markets!
