The University of Toronto Scarborough Cryptocurrency Club aims to explore a topic of the finance world that is less discussed at the campus, but which has major global significance and influence, due to events around the historical events around the globe. One notable such event is the crash of the cryptocurrency exchange and hedge fund FTX. The theme of volatility and fraud ties into the club, as it is meant to serve as an educational platform for the world of crypto; and so it better prepares students wanting to delve into the world of investing on the blockchain. The club aims to cultivate general cryptocurrency knowledge on campus by hosting seminars with industry professionals and analyzing documentaries on the science (and of course math) behind the most popular exchanges, funds, coins, etc. and in turn, helping interested students be more aware and less prone to financial losses through fraud, scams, crashes and other misleading tactics (e.g: pump-and-dumps) that are prevalent in the blockchain world.
