UTM ACADEMIC SOC – Student Association of Geography and Environment (SAGE) UTM

The Student Association for Geography, Geomatics, and the Environment (SAGE) actively engages with our student body through various initiatives including: networking opportunities, skill learning and social events.

Highlights from the 2024/2025 academic year include: the Unite Behind the Science Journal Club, the Going to Grad School Panel, our Networking Series, Meet the Profs, ROP lunch with GGE professors and our Sustainability in Entrepreneurship Panel.

SAGE also collaborates with groups external to the department such as the UTM Indigenous Office, the Sexual Education Centre, the Literature is Alive Club to hold a range of events. Through these diverse events, SAGE fosters connections with departments, organizations, and student-led clubs across the campus.

Academic Programming for Students:
Mentorship Program: Pairs a 1st/2nd year mentee with a 3rd/4th year mentor to help 1st/2nd years navigate through university and life after.
Outreach Associate Program: Pairs students interested in increasing their involvement with SAGE to an executive.

SAGE is looking to continue engaging the GGE community with more academic, interactive, networking, and social events; please check our Quercus, Instagram and LinkedIn to learn more about upcoming events this academic year!
