Undergraduate Journal of American Studies Call for Editors St George

The Undergraduate Journal of American Studies is now accepting editors until October 13, 2023!

This is a student-run journal, publishing the work of undergraduate students in American Studies and related disciplines. This is a great opportunity for you to gain valuable insights into the peer-review process and fine-tune a paper for publication. If you have any questions please reach out!

All positions will run from November 2023 to April 2024. The journal goes to design and print in summer 2024, with a launch to follow. It’s essential that all applicants be available through the winter – via reliable phone and internet.

Co-Editors-in-Chief

There are two positions available for Editor-in-Chief. Applicants who are interested in this position should be in their 3rd or 4th year of their undergraduate studies in either the Major or Minor in American Studies program. Duties for this position include choosing a theme, soliciting and selecting papers for publication, communicating clearly with writers and assistant editors, edited selected papers and coordinating with the American Studies department to design and produce the journal.

This is a co-editorship, in which two editors equally share the work of preparing the journal. Applicants should be prepared and able to take on an equitable share of tasks and responsibilities.

Assistant Editors

Applicants for the positions of Assistant Editor may be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of their undergraduate studies in either the Major or Minor in American Studies program. Duties for this position include soliciting submissions, meeting and working with the editors-in-chief to select submissions, as well as working closely with contributors on editing and finalizing the selected submissions.
