Amnesty International UTM is the official University of Toronto Mississauga chapter of Amnesty International, the world’s largest grassroots human rights movement with over 10 million members and supporters worldwide. Our chapter exists to create a unified platform where students can learn about human rights, engage in informed dialogue, and take meaningful action on issues that matter both globally and locally.
Our mission is to educate, empower, and unite students around principles of justice, equality, and human dignity. We are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and non-partisan space where students feel comfortable sharing perspectives, asking questions, and participating in thoughtful discussions without fear of judgment.
Through awareness campaigns, educational panels, guest speakers, peaceful advocacy initiatives, fundraisers, and collaborative events with other campus organizations, Amnesty International UTM connects global human rights movements to our everyday lives on campus. We strive to turn awareness into action and provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, global awareness, and a deeper understanding of social justice.
Whether you are new to human rights advocacy or have years of experience, Amnesty International UTM welcomes you to be part of a community dedicated to informed dialogue, collective action, and meaningful change.
