A hands-on introduction to prompt engineering, context engineering, and reliable AI workflows.
In this session, students will learn how to move beyond simple prompting and communicate with AI more systematically. We will explore how to define clear goals, provide useful context, structure tasks, set constraints, control outputs, and verify AI responses.
Topics include:
- The fundamentals of prompt engineering
- The Goal, Context, Task, Constraints, Output, Verify framework
- Weak prompts vs. better prompts
- Zero-shot and few-shot prompting
- Structured reasoning and task decomposition
- Prompt templates and reusable workflows
- Common prompting mistakes and how to debug them
- A hands-on AI Research Assistant example
Participants will work through practical exercises and learn techniques they can immediately apply to studying, research, coding, projects, and everyday AI use.
No advanced AI or programming experience is required.
