Many students want to explore Artificial Intelligence but don’t know where to start or how to turn curiosity into impact. The UOFTAIC solves that gap by creating a low-barrier, high-support environment for learning and doing. As the official U of T chapter of the AI Collective, we plan on running: practical, instructor-led workshops on model fine-tuning ; project incubators and mentorship sessions that pair students with graduate researchers and industry engineers; applied research and paper-reading groups that help members publish; and industry-facing events that connect talent with sponsors, internships, and hiring managers. We prioritize hands-on, reproducible tooling, transparent governance, and inclusive programming so that anyone can contribute to and benefit from working in AI. Our pillars are education, collaboration, and ethical impact: we teach core skills, enable cross-disciplinary teams to ship projects, and hold space for critical conversations about safety, fairness, and responsible deployment. Join us to learn practical AI skills, meet mentors, build portfolio-worthy projects, and help shape the next wave of AI innovation at U of T.
