The Civil and Mineral Engineering Graduate Student Association (CivMin GSA) represents more than 400 graduate students in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering. The purpose of the association is to represent the civil and mineral engineering graduate student body to other groups and to sponsor events of common interest to the membership. Past activities have included barbeques in the summer, pub nights, coffee and tea events, movie nights, and a trip to Canada’s Wonderland.
CivMin GSA engages in the affairs of the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering by meeting regularly with the Chair and by selecting representatives for the departmental committees that make decisions affecting graduate education, such as the Academic Planning Committee and the Academic Appeals Committee. The association also holds three seats on the Council of the Graduate Students’ Union, which debates issues of interest to the entire graduate community of the University of Toronto.
