Scarborough Go Club (SGC) UTSC

Welcome to the Scarborough Go Club (SGC), your gateway to the world of Go at the University of Toronto Scarborough! Our club is dedicated to exploring and mastering the ancient board game of Go, originating from China over 4,000 years ago, renowned for its strategic depth and cultural significance. It involves two players who take turns placing black and white stones on a grid board, aiming to control the most territory. Whether you’re a beginner interested in learning more about Go or an expert at the game, our club offers a supportive and engaging environment for all skill levels. Specifically, we will be offering:

  • Weekly Go Lessons for beginners that develop strategic thinking, problem-solving, and concentration skills etc.
  • Weekly Go Practice Sessions that improve your skills and strategies through regular play.
  • Monthly Tournaments and Competitions that test your abilities in friendly competitions. Winners get mystery prizes!
  • Social Gathering that serves as a break from academic pressures and promotes understanding and appreciation of East Asian culture through the study and play of Go.
