The University of Toronto Ski and Snowboard Club (UTSSC) offers affordable opportunities for all students at the University of Toronto to participate in skiing and snowboarding adventures at both local and destination mountains. To make our club inclusive to everyone on campus, we have developed two exciting new programs, outlined below. In addition to ski trips across Canada, we host bi-monthly socials to offer additional bonding opportunities and to create a close-knit UTSSC family before the winter season starts.
Our Programs:
1. The Mentorship Program: Experienced skiers and snowboarders teach beginners basic skills at extremely reduced costs and, in some cases, for free. Lessons are offered only on our Blue Mountain and Mont Tremblant trips, comprising about 35% of every trip.
2. The Safety and Wellness Program: This comprehensive division includes our Diversity and Inclusivity initiatives. The program establishes policies to ensure members are aware of their “Code of Conduct” responsibilities and creates a safe space for all. It focuses on recruiting a diverse membership, targeting various communities through specific advertising, and offering programs and scholarships that give back to the community. This division has two co-directors, one for each gender, to ensure everyone feels comfortable. We also have an anonymous complaint form for members to voice any concerns.
Our Trips:
- Local and Canadian Destinations: One large trip to Blue Mountain every month starting in January, with three buses for the trip. A reading week trip to Mont Tremblant and two additional trips to the West Coast at SkiBig3, Panorama, and Revelstoke.
- International Destinations: Trips to Europe, the USA, and across Canada, including Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, Panorama, and Blue Mountain. European destinations include Chamonix, France, and Zermatt, Switzerland. We have two trips over reading week, one to Mont Tremblant and the other to Revelstoke.
- Ikon Pass Destinations: We generally travel to Ikon Pass destinations as we promote their season pass, which we get exclusive pricing for.
Socials and Events:
UTSSC implements, when possible, a social director or events coordinator to arrange socials throughout the year with a small team, ensuring continuous engagement and bonding among members.
Membership and Registration:
All information on how to register for memberships, trips, and socials can be found on our website: (http://www.utssc.com).
