Skule Strategy Game Club is an Engineering based undergraduate club that dedicates to introducing strategic gaming to U of T students. Strategy games include any games that require players to make decisions using internal decision-tree-style thinking. This can range from social and cooperative card and board games, to competitive and detailed wargames. The club offers a variety of activities under the umbrella, but with a focus on miniature wargaming. Events hosted by the club include weekly “drop-in”-style demonstration games that are accessible to beginner players, semester-long Escalation League where players can learn and practice gaming more in-depth, as well as weekend-long events that allow players to participate in teams and play out simulations of historical battles. The club has also developed its own free online game engine for various online play and demos during the pandemic to support students around the globe. The online play allowed students to meet each other and make the club event accessible to those not on campus. The club also collaborates with the Laurentian Tabletop Organization, Toronto Miniature group and other Ontario university’s tabletop game clubs for events.
