Secondary school students face a significant decision regarding their future careers. This dilemma is particularly challenging for high school student-athletes: should they focus on academics and pursue an educational career, dedicate all their time to the sport they love, or try to balance both? As a student-athlete in high school, I was faced with these questions and frequently felt lacking guidance. The Soccer Scholars Mentorship Network (SSMN) aims to support high school soccer student-athletes by pairing them with experienced soccer mentors, including Varsity-level players, League 1 Ontario players, and competitive coaches. Our club will create a supportive network where mentors and mentees can connect, providing high school soccer players with the guidance they need to make informed career decisions. SSMN’s primary goal is to encourage young soccer players to pursue their athletic dreams while staying engaged in their education, promoting the idea that sport and academics can coexist to foster well-rounded development.
