The purpose of the wine society is to bring to light the rich and important culture surrounding wine production, distribution, and trends. The club is educational, many of the members have found a lack of education about alcohol, wine in particular can lead to an unhealthy relationship with it. Through learning about the way wine should be looked at, as an artistic expression produced by the earth, we hope to enhance people’s understanding and create a better relationship with alcohol. It is also an asset to know about wine in a business setting, this club can provide members with a foundational education in wines from which they can broaden their understanding of this vast industry. We hope to engage with Canada’s wine producers especially within the southern Ontario region, this is a great outreach opportunity for the university. Events will focus on teaching about different regions of wine production with guest speakers, wine producers and merchants already expressing interest in sharing their thoughts.
