University of Toronto Association of Athletes for Society (UTAAS) St George

University of Toronto Association of Athletes for Society (UTAAS) is a student run association with the goal to create a positive impact on society through sports and community work. UTAAS currently has two main sub-teams: the sports team and the volunteer team. As of today the sports category consists of a basketball and soccer team with hopes to expand and create a badminton, ping pong, and boxing team in the future. Members of UTAAS are welcome to join any team: no prior experience is needed.

Our sports teams are unique in the way that while we are committed to winning games, we also place a high value on camaraderie and the enjoyment of sports. Players with all experience levels are able to participate as UTAAS arranges different games from non-competitive rallying games to competitive matches for the more experienced or competitive players. UTAAS plans to hold a charity cup tournament in order to fundraise for various non profit organizations (NPO’s), such as Soccer Without Borders, Save the Children, and Toronto Nonprofit Network.

The volunteer team is intended for those interested in actively impacting and contributing to society and developing their management, planning, and inter-personal skills.  Aside from participating in multiple volunteer activities throughout the academic year, the team will also host volunteer events. The volunteer team will cooperate with other student organizations within UofT to plan and host charity events.
