The Falun Dafa Club at U of T aims to provide an open environment for members and affiliates of U of T to freely practice Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa).
Falun Dafa is a traditional Chinese spiritual practice for mind and body. The practice combines five gentle and slow exercises with a moral philosophy centered on the principles: Truthfulness “真” (zhen), Compassion “善” (shan), and “Tolerance “忍” (ren). It teaches that these qualities are universal and fundamental, and by assimilating into them, one can attain true wisdom, physical health, and a serene state of mind. As any practitioner can validate with their own experience, Falun Dafa is beneficial for relieving stress and achieving mental & physical well-being, which includes improved energy levels, focus, clarity, and peace of mind.
Falun Dafa is practiced freely by millions in over 150 countries. However, like other persecuted groups such as Uyghurs Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists, etc., Falun Gong has been experiencing ongoing persecution by the ruling Communist Party in China since 1999, with millions imprisoned for up to 16 years. More information about the persecution can be found here.
Regular activities of the Falun Dafa Club include weekly exercises and periodic experience-sharing sessions. Additionally, as Falun Dafa has deep roots in traditional Chinese culture, we host cultural events to introduce this rich heritage. Anyone is welcome to join our sessions regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious background, political beliefs, etc. Participation in all of our activities is on a voluntary basis and free of charge. All are welcomed to join or leave at any time without obligations.
