African Students Association UTM

The theme for this year is “sankofa” meaning to go back and get it. Our primary focus this year is to highlight and educate students about various cultures across Africa by showing resilience, community, unity, and sharing impactful information. The goal of The African Student Association is to build a community that is not only proud of where they are now but one that acknowledges how strong the past has made us. The African Student Association creates events and opportunities for individuals in the African diaspora to be apart of during their university years. The group focuses on ways to build black excellence on campus while also delivering fun activity nights to destress from the responsibilities of being a student. This organization is to provide a safe environment to encourage the lifestyle of African students and the diaspora to the University of Toronto Mississauga Campus. The University of Toronto Mississauga African Students Association aims to provide this accepting space by organizing events that cater to the diverse experiences of the students, as well as allow them to form relationship and participate in diverse events on campus.
