The Muslim Mental Health Association (MMHA) at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and providing culturally informed support to the Muslim community on campus. We strive to break the stigma around mental health while encouraging open conversations and holistic well-being through faith, knowledge, and community engagement.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Workshops & Events

  • Mental health workshops: Focus on stress management, mindfulness, and balancing mental well-being with academic and spiritual life.
  • Islamic perspectives on mental health: Organized talks by scholars to discuss Islamic views on mental health and ways to cope using spiritual practices (prayer, mindfulness, etc.).
  • Wellness events: Plan wellness retreats or stress-relief activities like group hikes, creative arts, or spiritual self-care sessions.

Faith & Mental Health Resources

  • Mental health guides: Create resources on coping strategies that align with Islamic principles, integrating faith-based coping mechanisms with evidence-based mental health practices.
  • Curated content: Provide articles, podcasts, and videos that discuss mental health in Muslim communities to help students access the right knowledge.
